Joseph Pilates brought his unique method of physical conditioning to New York in the early 1920s.  His studio attracted the city’s elite, with actors, dancers & athletes who used his system for rehabilitation, injury prevention and general conditioning. The method flourished quietly underground around the US, exploding into mass popularity at the end of the 20th century when its profile was raised by celebrities & the mass media.

Group or Private lessons

Private tuition sessions will be uniquely designed for the individuals body, comprising combinations of matwork exercises, small equipment and may utilise the original Pilates equipment – Reformer, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and Tower Bar as appropriate.

Private lessons are particularly recommended where there is an ongoing history of back pain or mobility problems

or injury.

Pilates is taught on mats & also on specially designed equipment that provides physical assistance and/or resistance.  The equipment can be particularly beneficial to help an injured person perform functional movement successfully, leading to safe recovery.

Perfect for athletes looking to enhance their performance & avoid the risk of injury.  It is also ideal for first time exercisers & the older population.  Medical specialists recommend Pilates for those with back problems.

Jo works in conjunction with physiotherapists, osteopaths & chiropractors to ensure that an appropriate rehabilitation programme is established.  Whatever your injury or limitation,                                  to discuss your requirements.
